If you own an online store then you MUST make room in your budget for SEO. Without Search Engine Optimisation your chances of making a mint from your business are now slim to non existent – such is the competition in most verticals today. Zazzle Media looks after a number of ecommerce sites and has seen, first hand, how transformational a great SEO strategy can be for a business.
As part of our partnerships with our clients our view is that we should also empower the business owner to help improve their rankings and in line with that ethos we have compiled this short but sweet article on top seo tips for online retailers. Every bit helps and by doing your bit and teaming up with a good search specialist there is no reason why you should not win the battle against your competitors.
1. Search out related forum and discussion sites and ensure you become an active member there. Posting regular advice and chat to create a relationship with your potential customers. Just be wary of making it too commercial.
2. We ALWAYS suggest that you simply HAVE to add and regularly update an advice and or news section on your site. Not only does this help you capture long tail traffic but it also makes your site sticker, more useful – and, crucially, Google just loves webmasters that write regularly! Your articles can also help you obtain back links too!
3. A controversial one but one that does work. Distribute competitors’ articles to article submission sites but link them back to your site. This is a little grey hat but there is no doubting the effectiveness of the technique.
4. Add your products to Google Products via Google Base – this gives you more than one bite at the search cherry.
5. Optimise your site – create a meta strategy and ensure keyword densities, page structures etc etc are primed to make you as relevant as possible for your phrases that pay and convert.
6. Send bloggers in your niche a cool toy with your logo on. Gifts can work wonders when it comes to getting written about!
There are, of course, many more techniques but for now we’ll leave it there as there is plenty for you to be getting on with! And if you ever want any further help then simply get in touch with the Zazzle Media team on 01733 348022 or by emailing MD Simon Penson on simon.penson@zazzlemedia.co.uk
