Site Redevelopment with SEO 'Baked in'!

Sugarshack is a brilliant London based cookery school and cake making accessories business with a gigantic stock range. That very fact had crippled the business online with a confusing sitemap and UX preventing many from finding the product they actually required.

Working with Magento development experts Jigowatt we helped to pull together a plan to reinvent the business as a leading ecommerce cake decoration site and the results have been nothing short of miraculous.

 

It's all about Visibility and User Journey

The cake decorating and baking space is a really exciting one from a blogging and social media perspective with a plethora of great quality sites run by innumerable baking fans. The search market is also extremely buoyant with tens of thousand of searches per month making a multi-faceted approach the best option to achieve greatest reach.

For us that meant a four phased strategy that involved blogger outreach, social media work and more traditional SEO and conversion rate optimisation, all of which was melded into one.

Six months later and we saw the kind of visibility improvements you can see from the staked ranking chart below. With at least five head terms in first position (Google) and dozens more top five we also managed to improve site crawl to get hundreds more long tail terms indexing, producing, in the process high double digit traffic increases.sugarshack rankings

Much of this performance can be put down to our work with bloggers, creating reams of quality expert content to place around the blogosphere. As a  result the site received bucketfuls of extra referral traffic and highly relevant links, which have powered the site to the very top of search.
