Content: The Future of SEO

“You should get a blog for your site.” “It’s important to have regular content going live.” “Google loves regular, original content at the moment.” Three phrases that have been used more than any other in relation to search engine optimisation in the past few months since Google’s Panda update changed the emphasis.

But what many people inexperienced with the concept struggle to understand is just what meets the necessary criteria. After all, they’ve been putting articles onto their site since it was created and they haven’t noticed much of an improvement.

That could be down to a number of factors, but the most likely is that Google doesn’t see the content as relevant or important enough to warrant a boost in its ranking system. Hiring professional content writers to do your blogs, news and press releases can be beneficial, but it’s most likely that these people have helped you improve by chance – if they’ve made any effect at all. With SEO content, successful writing can never be mastered so you need to keep adapting your writing style every time the big G decides to change its algorithm. More

Content: The Key to Unlocking Online Success

The Importance of Creating High Quality and Original Content

The recent Google updates, as has so often been the case, have left many people in the SEO industry scratching their heads as to just what they’ve adjusted, how their work has been affected, and how to modify their strategies ahead of the following month’s work. Throughout 2011, it has appeared that Google is now putting a lot more emphasis on something that I am a strong believer in. Good quality, regularly updated, informative, and most importantly, interesting content.

For many years, the focus has been around content related issues such as keywords, which, while they are still important, unfortunately initiated a spell in which articles were flooded with specific terms and the quality of the actual article suffered because it was no longer English, more words on a page. If people visit a website, they are doing so for a reason and that is to either learn or read about something. What good is it if the article makes no sense, but mentions a certain phrase five times? It just leaves people confused and wondering what it is they’ve just read. If the user wants a recipe for a cake, they want to find out what it is they need, what goes into the bowl when, how long it needs in the oven, and what utensils they need. That’s it. More

Unless you’ve been sleeping in a drain somewhere close to Sirte in Libya with a former Dictator as your roomie you will undoubtedly have heard a lot of noise about a change Google are making to Analytics that has kicked up a real stink amongst us SEOs.

It’s not often that the industry is up in arms but this announcement has certainly changed a lot of hearts and minds when it comes to Google’s reputation. But why is a little tweak to some free software upsetting so many? Let’s start to answer that question by first explaining what has happened… More

Zazzle Beginner’s Guide to SEO: Part V

An Important Link

Last week, I talked about how important it is that your site is SEO friendly, making it more likely to rank well within the various search engines. In this week’s edition of my Zazzle Media Beginner’s Guide to SEO, I’m going to discuss how important the links of your website are in a successful site.

While the architecture is a very important part – as you’ll recall from last week’s article I mentioned the ‘crawlers’ that try to work their way around your site, with their success reflecting in your ranking – and similarly, my colleague previously talked about how to write the best possible SEO content – SEO Articles, The Easy Way.

But the content and structure of the site are just two of the three vital parts of an SEO friendly website. The main contributor is the links associated with the site, both internally and externally. More

Be SEO Friendly

In the previous edition of my Beginner’s Guide to SEO, I discussed how to determine your SEO objectives, and how to ensure your website hits its target audience. In this week’s edition, the fourth in the series, I’m going to talk you through the process of developing an SEO friendly website.

A lot of people are of the belief that simply because the site exists, it can be found in the search engines. Unless you’re in the know, that’s not a ridiculous thing to believe, but it is incorrect. More

Determining Your SEO Objectives

SEOIn the latest installment of my Beginner’s Guide to SEO, I’m going to talk you through how to target your website at the right people, and also how to hit the targets you set for the site.

With SEO, the most successful sites are those that appreciate that results won’t come overnight, that it’s a Test match, not a Twenty20. For those who accept the challenges of this war of attrition, you will be rewarded handsomely with a combination of steady and dramatic improvements to the ranking and overall success of your website.

Each campaign is unique; you don’t pay for a “silver package” and get the same strategy as the other companies on the same deal. You might pay the same amount for it, but you’ll get services tailor-made for your brand. As search engines evolve and bring out new algorithm updates such as Panda from Google, those working in SEO cannot rest on their laurels – trust me! More

What You Need To Know About Google Penalties

How To Keep Google On Your Side

If your website experiences a sudden fall in ranking for its main keywords it could be down to a number of issues, but an algorithm change by Google, such as the recent Panda update is likely to be the main factor.

Google have released a number of algorithm changes over the years, and each time a new one is released there are winners and losers, with the drop in rankings usually incorrectly blamed on Google penalties.

If you suspect a Google penalty, it first makes sense to check on any of the social networking sites or SEO Forums to see if any Google algorithm changes have been made, which could be the cause of the problem. More

keywordsThe Key Part Of An SEO Strategy

The majority of traffic to websites is sent by search engines such as Google, making SEO an essential tool for any website wanting to be successful. The keywords used to lead the SEO campaigns are often overlooked in terms of just how important they are, with many website owners using too many.

“But surely we want to get as many keywords in as possible?” I hear you cry. Well yes, you do, but Google doesn’t. If you use too many keywords, the daddy of all search engines will penalize you and you’ll actually be doing more harm to your site than good. More
